Airbas' innovative approach in aviationAirbas Transportation was the first company to operate under an innovative aviation concept that significantly varies from the usual types of aircraft leasing and chartering services. The new concept although was closely related to the standard ACMI, varied significantly concerning the crew, given that the entire operation of Airbas Transportation was completely run with leased staff, including the crew. On one hand, although Airbas aircraft was not placed on a dry lease with Irbis, most of the flights were flown by Irbis as an operator where Irbis became responsible for shouldering the maintenance reserve of the aircraft in revenue service. On the other hand, using leased crew allowed full control of crew cost particularly in relation to duty rest time management. The staff leasing agreement with a UAE provider provided tremendous savings on crew and employees costs given the difference in pay scale when compared to the US. That, combined with the decreased cost of maintenance resulting from the sharing agreement with Irbis, provided Airbas with increased competitiveness even within the local UAE market. Controlling the costs of crew and maintenance, two of major costs factors in aviation business, resulted in making Airbas Transportation turning record profits within its first year of operations. The company was poised to go public and raise sufficient capital to modernize its fleet and expand its operations by the year 2007. Unfortunately, the evil minds in the Bush regime decided to use the company as a scapegoat to cover their impotence causing the destruction of the companies and the dreams of all of the people who worked for its success. |
